What’s In My Cart(s) Right Now

A mixed bag of summer, winter and everything in between as I navigate this tricky trans-seasonal wardrobe slump! On the one hand I’m desperate for new season clothes and the type of pieces that will see me through an upcoming beachside holiday and beyond, but on the other, well, it’s still pretty cold and I’m so sick of all my knits and jeans!

My vibe, in case it’s not obvious, is either sporty (I have a thing for cool kicks) or ladylike — pretty opposite ends of the spectrum but two looks I find easy to navigate for my body shape and lifestyle. I’m excited about the return of the humble A-line mini skirt and hope to wear them with chic shirts, boxy tees and cardigans. I’m also pretty minimal when it comes to dresses and tailoring and can’t seem to go past a puff sleeve or blouson dress in a neutral, or shockingly bright hue. Which brings me to my latest obsession… Cos. Seriously, if you don’t live near a physical store then get yourself online asap. The shapes, fabrics, colours — looks expensive but totally isn’t, and the quality is really up there. I’m buying the above tomato-red shirt dress asap and will wear with a chunky sandal or ballet flat as soon as the weather permits.

Despite the headline, I of course won’t be purchasing all these pieces because I can’t, and also because I’d like to stay happily married. Instead, I’ll add all the pieces I love to the relevant online store’s “Wishlist” and will keep tabs on pieces when they go on sale, are running low in stock or are no longer available (you usually get email alerts for all three of these reasons from most reputable stores). This is the easiest way to keep your favourites on hand without committing too soon. Think of it as the virtual way to hide pieces in a store you plan to go back for later when you’ve thought about it more… don’t pretend you don’t do that.

Ok guys, Godspeed!
