My Bumper Kidswear Edit

If I was to have done a kidswear edit a few years ago it would look a lot different. Why? Because when my kids were little I was kind of insane and thought it was best to spend money on fancy international labels and a helluva lot of smocking. Sure, my camera roll proves they looked great, but thankfully as they’ve grown (and become more opinionated) I’ve come to my senses!

To be honest, I am pretty particular when it comes to kids’ fashion - but not for reasons you’d expect. These days, as much as I still adore Swedish and Spanish labels like Mini Rodini and Bobo Choses, I know they simply aren’t worth buying regularly. The main reason? Affordable children’s clothes from chain stores are great - actually, they’re terrific. When you hunt around and buy from international stores like Marks & Spencer, H&M and Zara, as well as local stores such as Target, Kmart, Best & Less and Cotton On, you realise you don’t have to splash serious cash in order for your kids to look adorable and put together. Also? My 8 year old daughter prefers these labels to the fancy ones now, so who am I to argue?

I’m really all about comfort when it comes to kids clothing - no fancy zips or belts, elasticised waists always, and a lot of fleece and jersey in the cold season. I can’t stand adult trends interpreted for kids so I avoid those and instead, favour bright colours and happy clothes. Arket scores big points here for making wonderfully simple clothes that are often unisex and great quality.

I’ve gone click-happy and selected a huge range of fun clothes available to buy now below, and this edit really is a good representation of how I shop for my own kids now that they’re a little older. Functional clothes, quality footwear and a touch of the international labels I hold dear to my heart (usually on sale!) is what I’m all about, so here’s to a very stylish season ahead for the mini people in your life.
