Happy Home Things

Sometimes, when I’m a little overwhelmed by fashion, I turn to my trusty sidekick, homewares. When you’re not looking for big ticket items and are after a little something to scratch the itch, a beautiful vase, gorgeous napery or a decorative cushion seems to always do the trick…

As you may be able to tell, minimalistic blonde wood and raffia homewares aren’t really my bag, largely thanks to Instagram which has well and truly killed the influencer-home-vibe. I like my homewares to have personality, and a lot more longevity than a social media trend. For me, that means heartfelt pieces that mean something more. The bowl that you put out when friends come over that makes you smile, the embroidered napkins that have been passed down through the family, the vase that may not be scalloped but houses a gorgeous bouquet all the same… a little less catalogue, a lot more personal, basically.

While I wouldn’t have this many colours and prints all together, these guys mixed with your basics at home will make for a perfectly modern combo that still reflects your own aesthetic. A nudge and a wink of new trends mixed with your ol’ faithfuls already on display equals the ultimate home-styling formula.

So, if you’re hanging low this long weekend, why not buy yourself a smile-inducing little something-something…
