Great Handbags Under $500
I have a vivid memory of when I was first travelling to Europe, while the rest of my tour group was stocking up on souvenirs such as keychains and pens, I was racing into Fendi in Rome to buy my first designer bag. I still use that bag today over twenty years later, so I’ve always felt designer bags were worth their hefty price tags…
Something switched over the last few years though, while my handbags took on a more utilitarian aesthetic thanks to kids and mum life. Totes and cross-body bags mixed with the odd canvas tote for shopping are pretty much all I use right now, and I don’t think they need to be emblazoned with a designer logo as they once did. Don’t get me wrong, I still love a luxe bag, but for everyday purposes there are so many mid-tier brands that are producing high quality bags that look and feel just like a more expensive version.
Arket, Cos, DeMellier, A.P.C. and Oroton are just some of the brands that I’m loving right now, and I’ve found some true gems that are sitting sweetly at the under $500 price bracket. Look out for textures such as raffia, suede and woven leather, or the resurgence of metallic colours for a seasonal update. Fun, and cheaper than a ticket to Italy.
