Easy Dressing

The concept of “easy dressing” occurred to me on holidays recently, and one which I was keen to explore more of for both you and me. It happened every time I went to get dressed from my suitcase and realised the pieces that I felt good in were the ones that have aged well with time, fit no matter what I eat, are well-maintained and blend comfort and style effortlessly. Read: I’m not talking about anything particularly trend-driven or figure-hugging here…

When I say easy I don’t mean basics or loungewear, I’m talking about the pieces you rely on no matter the occasion that just work. The dress that isn’t so trend-driven which you’ve worn for years, the failsafe sneakers that make everything instantly look cooler, the denim that always reliably fits, the accessories that work for day and night…

I’ve always said there’s nothing like packing for a trip that makes you realise what you truly love and hate in your wardrobe, and after a few months of travelling on and off, I know this to be very true. As I said in my recent NY resolutions edit, I want to shop smarter this year, and I think focusing on the word ease may just be the ticket I need to make better purchases.

Some standouts from the below edit for me include anything by Loulou Studio — modern Parisian basics with a twist, Cos and Matteau for elevated utility dressing, the perfect metallic ballet flats by Wittner, no-name handbags that are timeless and functional… I could go on. It’s all easy and it’s all good!
