The Summer Pieces I Want To Buy Right Now

For today’s edit I’ve zoned in on exactly the 4 pieces I’m lusting after right now that seem really appropriate for this time of year, whatever you may be doing…

For my looking after the kids / working from home / trying not to go insane reality, that includes a beach robe — not to be confused with a kaftan, sarong or “cover-up” (what a terrible term!), a neutral hat that actually protects me well from the sun (I have melasma-induced sun fear), a wear-anywhere matching top and bottom ensemble, and a bag that’s made from anything but leather.

These guys are all very summery and all very necessary — I love that they can all be worn by the water, to the shops, wrangling kids or just hanging at home.

If you thought you were kind of over summer shopping, think again…

  1. A Beach Robe

How chic are these guys? Such an easy throw-on piece that works so well over a swimsuit, but also as an easy dress worn back with sandals and cool sunnies.

2. A Neutral Sun Hat

And by sun hat I mean something that actually protects you well from the sun! I love the idea of an oversized raffia bucket-hat style at the moment.

3. A Matching Set

I thought I was over these guys but it turns out, they are exactly what a busy mum needs when you’re dealing with kids on holidays and crazy heat. I love the way a matching ensemble looks and how it takes away the styling guesswork when getting ready.

4. A Bag That’s Not Leather

Now is not the time to be carting around a serious handbag made from leather or anything similar. Switching over your accessories seasonally makes just as much sense for bags as it does for clothes — you’ll instantly feel lighter with one of these on your arm.
