What To Buy This Month
A little taste-test of what I’m eyeing this month, what I would like to own and wear and what I think you might like to buy. Some points to keep in mind for the start of this new season…
Birkenstock Bostons are always sold out in taupe, but they do get restocked, so make sure you add yourself to any wish lists to be kept in the loop when they do. I think the taupe is the most appealing/useful colour to own.
It’s still pretty hot for Autumn, so don’t jump into new trends too soon! Ballet flats and trousers are a good starting point if you’re an eager beaver (wear with a fresh white tee).
Speaking of ballet flats, I’d buy now because I’ve already noticed all the good ones are selling out super fast. I really rate the satin Porte & Paire styles from Net-a-Porter, or the classic French Sole.
Jeans are something I think you should invest in earlier rather than later, because inevitably all the best styles and sizes sell out pretty quickly, particularly the cult brand variety.
You may have noticed it’s all about the “top” at the moment — the going out top (with jeans) for evening, and the casual top for day — namely, long sleeve T-shirts. You won’t regret having a few of these in your arsenal so stock up now on white, neutral and striped versions.
Goodbye mini-bags, hello (again) tote bags. Thank God!
If you can’t commit to a suit-style vest, why not try a knitted version worn over a tee or shirt. It’s Grandma-chic in the very best way.
You’re going to need a few fresh tanks for layering purposes and to wear solo tucked into jeans, pleated skirts, trousers and under blazers.
Lesssssssss go!
