Try It & Buy It - Crochet
Crochet is a trend I’ve never usually been on board with, but suddenly can’t seem to get enough of. I’m personally very into the long dresses as I can imagine them worn on holiday with a cocktail in hand, but I also love the handbag and bucket hat variations, too.
My tip for buying crochet is to look for the mid-price range, as I think the really cheap versions will get holes and look weathered too quickly, and the really high-end versions are simply not worth the money. An elevated piece of crochet clothing will have bit of weight to it — not too thin, not too thick — and will look more like a piece of clothing rather than a swimwear cover-up. Alternatively, try looking for crochet detailing, such as pockets and trims, to ease into the trend without fully committing.
I’ve got one main tip to share when styling your crochet pieces, and that is to leave the heels for another time. I’m yet to find an example of a crochet dress or skirt that looks good in heels — flats just hit different. A gorgeous pair of sandals or slides when worn with crochet look so chic, I can imagine either a barely-there sandal from Ancient Greek, or something more chunky from the likes of A.Emery.
I’ve handpicked pieces with a lot and a little crochet, and can’t wait to see this trend come to life this summer as soon as the weather allows. Ready to try it for yourself?
