Swimwear To Feel Good In

I’m not going to lie, it’s a strange swimsuit season! Gone are the whimsical prints and interesting shapes of past years… and instead, this summer we’re confronted with a lot of high leg cuts and “one size fits all” fabrics, which of course don’t work for everyone.

I went shopping for some new swimwear only recently and was pretty perplexed by the whole experience, but I do have some valuable insight to share. Firstly, if you’re hellbent on sticking to a single colour and/or your old faithful black one piece, may I suggest you tweak the colour a little to try chocolate brown, khaki or ecru instead? These shades feel more modern this season and work really well with most skin tones, they’re also less harsh than all-black. If you do want to stick to black, and I totally get it — look for subtle nods to 90s silhouettes thanks to square necklines, rectangle crop tops or low back-detailing.

Now, if you’re not familiar with Hunza G, let me get you up to speed. These are the guys that started the whole “one size fits all” crinkle-cut fabrication made famous by Julia Roberts’ cut-out dress in Pretty Woman. The brand has had a huge resurgence lately and is literally taking over every retailer with their tried and tested styles that guarantee to fit everybody. As you can see by a lot of the pieces in this edit, they do make a huge range of styles that genuinely look good on most bodies, and a lot of similar brands have followed suit with the same fabric and sizing. I will warn though, as much as I was impressed by their ability to shrink and stretch, this type of fabric pills, so be careful where you sit and/or swim, as I’m now stuck with a fuzzy bum on a brand new bikini!

As usual, I’ve scoured the web to bring the best styles, shapes and price points to you so you’re ready to get up and go once that sunshine hits (soon, pretty please!), so don’t delay in adding these to cart in preparation for the next few weeks and months. Ready? Let’s go!
