Sneakers To Rely On Now and Later
We haven’t fully escaped sandal season yet, but I sure have noticed a lot more sneakers styled with outfits lately, which prompted me to do a deep dive. Yes, there’s a lot of Adidas featuring — don’t shoot the messenger. Their take on the ballet-style sneaker (that basically means bendy and flat, the opposite of chunky) is undeniably appealing, given their Japan, Tokyo and Taekwando styles are so readily available in different colours and come with a very approachable price point. On the other end of the styling spectrum, the classic, chunky, dad-style sneaker is also available in various colour ways thanks to New Balance, Salomon, Asics and Saucony — a nice option if you also want to use them for athletic purposes and not just with jeans!
Retro-styled Nikes, particularly the Cortez (which I mentioned last year and is now gaining momentum) is also a very fun and unexpected option if you’re sick of the three stripe dominance. Can confirm they’re also very comfy. And of course, if you’re looking for something a little more high end and luxe, Loewe’s ballet runners strike the perfect balance between bougie and sporty.
