10 Weekend Pick-Me-Ups

Some things I’ve seen and loved lately that are just the ticket to brighten your weekend. Here goes!

Cropped Shirt

I spotted this Witchery cropped shirt in store recently and was really impressed with its versatility. It isn’t fitted, but you can wear it tighter by the tie at the back, and the peek-a-boo detail is actually super flattering and adds interest instead of being too revealing and annoying. I feel this would be such a great look with dark denim and heels after hours.

Denim Shirt Jacket

I definitely want to add a denim shirt to my spring looks soon and I’m digging this smock-style throw-over. I love that you can wear it open or closed and it can even work open over a dress as well as with pants and a tee. Cute.

Knitted Bomber

As a general rule, I don’t like bomber jackets at all, but I love the softness this knitted style brings. A great relaxed silhouette that lends itself well to this season’s obsession with pants and denim.

Woollen Pants

I’m pretty sure I’ve featured these pants many times before, but I can’t go past the perfect camel hue, the drape and the overall vibe that such an affordable price point delivers. Great for work and weekend.

Sporty Sweater

Claudie Pierlot is a French brand in the same group as Maje and Sandro, and I’m a big fan of all three labels. I’ve kind of gone off sportswear lately but when a simple jumper looks this stylish, I can be swayed. This would look great with a trench and leggings for an elevated casual look.

Strappy Heels

I don’t buy heels often, and I don’t really wear them much anymore, but I would like to change that as part of my mission to not be a very boring 42-year-old in flats all the time. These guys would be such a great investment to wear with a blouse and denim, or as the weather warms up with a floral dress. A good colour option if you’re sick of black and tan, too.

Matching Set

Remember when matching striped shirts and shorts became all anyone was wearing a few summers ago? Well, expect to see the same in a more pyjama-esque form soon (namely, the pants version). I’ve always loved a matching ensemble — such a failsafe option for busy mums to wear, and I’m psyched to try the look with heels, too.

Alice Band

I know what you’re thinking — whaaaaaat? But I feel this would be such a gorgeous addition to any outfit when you need an extra something-something. Jennifer Lawrence has been wearing them a lot lately if you don’t believe me.

Drawstring Handbag

I’ll always be a fan of a luxe-looking handbag that is affordable and practical. The drawstring top makes this an easy everyday bag that can work just as well for evenings.

Short Skirts Are Back

How good is this colour? Also the shape. Such a welcome change from all the midi and maxi skirts we’ve been offered all winter. I know mini skirts don’t work well with mum-life but on the days you don’t have little ones hanging off you, I say show a little leg!
