Mum On The Run? This Edit Is For You

Someone asked me recently how often I shop, and I really stumbled to answer. I don’t shop often, as I mentioned in this post, I don’t have the means or inclination to spend my days spending money on clothes and accessories, but I do like to keep in the loop of what’s going on in fashion and trends. I love being clever with my shopping and mixing high and low fashion, but in reality my days are often spent running around on mum duties that don’t often call for a lewk, if you know what I’m saying…

My days as a working-from-home mum often involve the mundane and boring — groceries, school drop offs, activities, appointments — and I value comfort and practicality over trends, even though I still want to look polished each day. Even when I’m feeling like a total hot mess inside (often, sadly) I like to look put together, so it got me thinking about my “mum on the run” outfits and how I mix comfort with an element of fashion day to day.

The edit below reflects pieces I have in my wardrobe, pieces I’d like to have in my wardrobe and a close-copy of how I dress most days to be everything to everyone and still somehow keep my fashion cred in tact. I don’t think you need to wear designer to look good, but I do think knowing what pieces work for the reality of your life stage, whether that’s WFH or in an office or being a busy SAHM, will always make you feel your best. For me, that looks like blousy dresses and tops, sporty bottoms, oversized shirts and a statement sandal or sneaker. Restrictive waistbands and tailoring need not apply. If that sounds like you, then this edit is all yours…
