The Flat Sandals Edit

Remember Dr. Scholl’s ? They were orthotic-type shoes that came with a wooden sole and buckle top and were often sold in pharmacies, and I swear that’s where my obsession with sandals officially began. For some reason they were on trend when I was in year 11 or 12, and I wore them proudly on mufti day, despite being on the receiving end of some puzzling looks from my peers. I didn’t care, I read Vogue and Cosmo religiously and just knew they were cool…

I don’t why that story came to mind but I guess we’re in a sandal-phase that welcomes Dr. Scholl’s-style shoes as well as a huge range of others. There’s the chunky Dad-sneaker still doing the rounds, the sleek Euro-style that is certainly a wardrobe staple by now, the barely-there tie-up, the slip-on mule, the thong, the fisherman, the flatform… honestly, it’s a sandal party out there and I’m not mad about it.

I’ve selected high and low styles that I’d happily wear on any given day this summer, so why not follow my lead and get yourself some happy feet.
