More Of My Random Favourite Things
I brought you my first Favourite Things edit a couple of months ago and have been mentally preparing what to include in my next one since then. I love that you care about this random but useful selection of items as much as you do a great dress. You are my people!
Like last time, I’ve delved into my wardrobe, bathroom, and kitchen to give you a true representation of all the things that I really, really rate right now. Here’s what’s on my list, currently:
Calm Slides, $70, Nike
I’m not going to pretend these are the epitome of style because I know better. What I will say is that if you are looking for a waterproof slide for the beach or pool, or simply a comfy pair of “home” shoes, then these are it. The way these came to my attention is a little left of centre — my husband owns similar recovery slides which he wears after exercise and swears by, and I have naturally always made fun of them. That is until I started wearing them when he wasn’t around… my goodness, the comfort! It’s like you’re walking on clouds, for real. A random but secretly amazing purchase for summer.
Ultimate Run Shorts, $85, Lorna Jane
It’s not often I cheat on Lulu for Lorna, but in this case, I definitely do. These shorts are my go-to for walking, jogging, or any form of exercise in the warmer months because they tick so many boxes. They’re super lightweight, have a really comfy waistband with a drawstring, have multiple pockets with zips, and they don’t ride up when running. So, so good.
Bye Bye Dark Spots Concealer + Serum, $52, Sephora
This is what I’ve learnt after years and years trying to hide my dark under-eye circles with various concealers — less is more. Or should I say, lighter is better. I can honestly say I’ve tried every concealer ever made and this one is currently my favourite. It’s lightweight and hydrating but also covers imperfections well. Zero cakey-ness and a great applicator wand, this is an awesome product that lets your skin breathe and shine.
Incu x Maison Balzac x Yellingbo Gold Olive Oil & Bottle, $129, Incu
Can you cope with this? I cannot. I love good olive oil, I love green olives and I love irreverent kitchen items. This would make a gorgeous gift (to yourself, or me).
4-Pack Full Briefs, $61, Boody
It may seem like I secretly work for Boody but I assure you I don’t. I have bought a few things from them all year (which I’ve mentioned in various edits) and am always so impressed, and these undies are no exception. Super simple but super wonderful, if you like a full brief with a bit of stretch and maximum comfort, then these are for you. They don’t dig under clothing and actually look super flattering on — I have all the colours above and am surprised at their versatility, especially the grey. I can’t recommend these more highly.
Herbaceous Scented Candle, $109, Boy Smells
I’m mad for a luxe candle, and I’m mad for Christmas. Although this technically isn’t a Christmas scent, the overall vibe reminds me of this time of year, minus any sickly sweet artificial pine/gingerbread notes. This guy is zingy, super fresh, herbal in an outdoorsy way, and just gorgeous on the nose. Really lovely if you’re looking for a new home scent that also looks cool on the mantle. *You can get this from Mecca but it’s always sold out, which is why I’ve provided another reliable online option.
Ribbed Tank Top, $29, Cos
It’s getting to that time of year where you’re reaching for basic tank tops above all else in your wardrobe. These guys are affordable, high-quality and are an excellent all-rounder when it comes to styling and versatility. Wear with shorts, a full skirt, as an exercise tank or simply over a swimsuit with a sarong. Cos actually do a few different versions of a tank and I’d recommend them all — scoop neck, coloured, muscle-style. So handy for this time of year.
