All The Skirts and How To Wear Them

I’m in my skirt era and I’m really loving it. I own many waisted, pleated skirts but am now on the hunt for a few mini and wrap styles to take me through the upcoming awkward trans-seasonal dressing stage. If you’re in the same boat, I highly recommend switching up your tops and accessories to change the look depending on where you’re going and what you’re feeling.

As a baseline, plain tanks and tees are excellent for most skirts. Tuck them in, add a belt and go for a sneaker for casual days (school pick-up) or a fancier flat or block heels for an occasion. You can wear most flats with longer skirts but I would opt for a bit of foot-skin showing if it’s a fuller-style maxi (e.g. a Mary-Jane flat), as it can look a bit too covered up with anything more.

I love the idea of a long-line vest worn with a mini, a boxy shirt mixed with a sarong-style wrap skirt and knitted tees and tanks that give a bit of textural difference. You can also think outside the box with short-sleeve shirts instead of full sleeves, loafers worn with crew socks, and a pop of unexpected red when you’d ordinarily opt for neutrals. So many options!

Let’s do this.
