How To Nail Casual-Cool
As I always say, it’s often the most simplest of outfits which make the biggest impact, which is why I’m a big advocate for spending more money and time on quality everyday products than your special once-in-a-while evening outfits. Basically, don’t dismiss a great pair of jeans, a white tee or a simple dress just because you’re wearing them on the school run or grocery shopping. These will be the hardest working items in your wardrobe, so invest, care for them and reap the benefits for years to come.
There’s definitely a knack to looking put together, chic and a little bit cool day-to-day, and while I’m still trying to crack the code, I’m figuring out a lot has to do with proportions and opposites. To put simply, one piece can be a little oversized, but worn with something more streamlined you instantly have edge. Same goes for unusual pairings — right now a great button-down shirt wouldn’t look out of place with a pair of tracksuit pants and an oversized jacket. It doesn’t make a lot of sense but it looks the part — comfortable and stylish. The same way trainers of any kind can be worn with dresses and pants, luxe accessories or a statement knit can elevate your everyday basics. I urge you to put pieces together that you wouldn’t ordinarily mix and match and see what transpires… trust me, it’s kinda fun.
