Boots You Actually Want To Wear
Firstly, what a time to buy some boots! I think this is my third time around doing a winter boot edit and I’ve never been more impressed with the selection on offer. Bonus points that a lot of these guys are on sale right now (or will be soon)!
I’m not sure if it’s a trend thing or simply my age (where practicality is trumping frivolous purchases), but I’m really noticing how versatile and handy it is to have a good pair of boots in your arsenal right now. I’ve had a selection of different styles in my wardrobe for years — a knee high slouchy tan pair, a simple black kitten ankle boot, a chunkier flat pointy boot, and a worn pair of tan suede ankle boots — and they have all come in handy when getting dressed for day and night lately.
I guess it helps that there is a serious pull to the Khaite-style western boots, which suddenly make a low heel look so right when worn with denim and a belt. The Jo Mercer “dupe” of this style is seriously great and half price right now. I’m also giving a shout out to the Toteme Belted ankle boots, which are simply the most elegant and wearable flat boot I’ve seen in a while, and Isabel Marant’s effortlessly reliable suede ankle boots that make me happy season after season. I still love these styles worn with some kind of floaty skirt or floral number — a bit like something Anne Hathaway’s character in The Idea Of You would wear. Not necessarily “on trend” but very classic, wearable and lovely nonetheless.
Of course, it’s not all about ankle boots, with knee high styles making their appearance with high heels, low heels and chunky heels galore. Paris Texas win in the category of sexy boots, no question, while Wittner, Country Road and Schutz make affordable options in leather, too.
Ok, over to you guys now!
