Winter Updaters We All Need

To be honest, I’ve already hit a snag with my winter styling and we’re only just entering July. I know where I’ve gone wrong, and it has a lot to do with following what I think I should be wearing versus what I actually know looks and feels good on me. At the moment I’ve got a lot of beige happening which is fine, as it suits my colouring and is easy to match with most colours, but it’s also incredibly… dull. I’m really not getting that dopamine hit we all desperately need when it’s cold and windy outside, so I’m searching for some colour to add to my knits and sneakers right now. Cobalt blue Adidas Originals are now my latest obsession (and as hard to nab as a pair of Sambas!).

I’m also looking for the ever-elusive perfect pair of pants, that somehow tick all the boxes in terms of fit, fabric and comfort. I’ve seen quite a few elasticised, straight-leg versions which look good on screen, and I’m quite partial to these Alex Mill pant/jeans on The Outnet which come in a variety of colours, and also these very cool looking denim elastic pants from Cos. A good step towards the cargo and baggy trend without looking too Gen-Z.

What I know I am liking this season is a knitted cardigan worn as a jumper, a maxi coat that is more boyish than feminine, maxi lengths instead of midi, and layering pieces such as vests and thicker shirts. I’m also appreciating the return of a classic handbag — totes, shoulder bags… it’s about damn time!

Ok, let’s all get shopping so we can escape this seasonal slump. Good luck!
