10 Things I’m Buying Now For Later

I’ve learnt the hard way lately that it’s much better to be proactive rather than reactive with your wardrobe. I’ve had quite a few events on this year where panic buying has lead me to make regretful purchases, which isn’t usually my vibe at all…

I’ve always been a thoughtful shopper and this has served me really well — buy what you love, when you love, and an occasion to wear it will follow. Obviously this doesn’t always apply to big ticket items, but buying something when the opportunity arises, rather than when you really, really need it, is often a better strategy in the long run. This is why I always shop off-season when it’s sale time, and why my designer purchases are usually more classic than trend-based.

With that in mind, I’ve been eyeing off a few things recently that I know I’ll love and wear for many years to come. I’m already mentally preparing how I’ll approach my wardrobe this spring/summer, and I know that with the stylish additions I’ve included in this edit, my look will be authentically me, without any regretful panic buys. Here’s what I’m loving right now:

  1. Leather Black Flip-flops by Mango. Are we calling them Flip-flops now? Thongs work for me too. Whatever you call them, I love the very simple design of these sandals with the statement (but not overbearing) gold toe detail.

  2. Doen Floral Dress. To say it’s going to be a Doen summer is putting things mildly. Part boho, part feminine, this silky dress looks season-less and super flattering to be worn with flats or heels.

  3. Blue Cotton Shirt by Blanca. It’s important to get the colour and fit right when it comes to a plain shirt, and this one by Blanca ticks all of the right boxes.

  4. Carabiner Charm Necklace, Etsy. I have been searching high and low for a very specific carabiner necklace (obsessed with the oval-shape lock style) and Etsy has delivered the goods. You can customise this necklace in so many ways, an excellent way to add a playful touch to your outfit.

  5. Gold Leather Heels by Prada. Not a cheap purchase, obviously, but if I had to describe my perfect strappy summer heels, these would be it. A forever staple.

  6. Cream Denim Bermuda Shorts by Dissh. The longer length in shorts is a welcome change and one which I’ll be embracing wholeheartedly. These guys look so sharp and polished when worn with a crisp shirt and belt.

  7. Little Black Dress by Faithfull The Brand. I already know this would be one of the most worn pieces in my wardrobe when the weather allows for it. Dress up or dress down, this is very simply a great dress.

  8. Cream Cotton Skirt by Posse. Undoubtedly a skirt we all need, it’s always these simple purchases that end up being the very best. Plus, pockets!

  9. Black Bucket Bag by Dragon Diffusion. I am desperate to be rid of my crossbody bags, and a timeless bucket bag would be such a welcome replacement.

  10. White Muscle Tee by Everlane. Who knew a few extra centimetres of fabric on the shoulders would make all the difference to a T-shirt? This silhouette is back and looks especially good when worn with the above Bermuda shorts or cotton skirt.
